20 July 2023 at 5.45pm at CMS London Cannon Place, 78 Cannon Street EC4N 6AF.
SAHM, now in its fourth year, commemorates, educates, and celebrates the British South Asian Diaspora, South Asian history and culture, and helps better understand the diverse heritage that continues to link the UK and South Asia.
As SAHM is about reclaiming the history and identity of British South Asians, it is important for people to be able to tell their own stories. We are pleased to showcase this by having Dr Sam De Silva, Partner at CMS and the Chair of Ethnic Solicitors Network (ESN) of The Law Society having an open conversation with the following prominent South Asian legal professionals:
• Aswini Weereratne KC – Barrister, Doughty Street Chambers
• Lubna Shuja – President of The Law Society of England and Wales
• Rowena Samarasinhe – Partner, Level
• Tan Ikram CBE – Deputy Senior District Judge (Chief Magistrate) for England and Wales
Dr Sam De Silva will be moderating a discussion with the above guests where they will share their own journey, discuss what it means to each of them to be South Asian, share some of the challenges they encountered, lessons learnt and tips for success.
