From September 2023, the University of Exeter will be starting a new online ‘Disability & Climate: In conversation with…’ series for people who are interested in reflecting on and/or sharing experiences around disability and the climate crisis.

This is part of a new project on disability-inclusive climate action led by the University of Exeter. The project website is coming soon but in the meantime, you can read a little more about it online (https://www.ecehh.org/research/disability-inclusive-climate-action/).

To kick off this series of conversations, they will be speaking with Prof. Sébastien Jodoin, a legal scholar who has played a key role in building linkages between the fields of disability and climate change. We’ll discuss how his lived experience with multiple sclerosis has informed his research and advocacy on disability-inclusive climate action, what his work has uncovered about the gaps and opportunities in this field, the many ways in which disabled people can act as agents of climate action, the challenges and barriers that they face in doing so, and the ways in which he cultivates hope and optimism in difficult circumstances.

This first session will take place online on Thursday 14th September, from 1pm-2.30pm BST.
