Join ChIPs and IP Inclusive to discuss recent changes to the Patents Court Guide and their impact on the diversity pipeline.
In 2022 an amended version of the Patents Court Guide introduced measures aimed at increasing diversity of representation in the court (see the IPKat post here).
Thanks to the efforts of the London Chapter of the ChIPs Network and the Patents Court Judges (past and present), the Guide now includes an express statement of support for diversity and encourages greater involvement of junior advocates wherever appropriate. It is hoped the changes will widen opportunities for currently under-represented groups and encourage diversity at all levels, in particular in the pipeline from junior to more senior levels.
This is a joint ChIPs and IP Inclusive event and is being kindly hosted by WilmerHale. It’s open to all UK-based IP professionals, in particular those who practise before the Patents Court and their clerks.
The panel includes the four leaders of the ChIPs London Chapter who helped catalyse the changes to the Patents Court Guide. Here’s the full line-up:
- In the chair: Annsley Merelle Ward (WilmerHale)
- Amy Crouch (Simmons & Simmons)
- Alice Hart (Three New Square)
- Tom Mitcheson KC (Three New Square)
- Laura Whiting (Freshfields)
