31 January 2024, 6pm to 8:30pm; In person at Law Society’s Hall, 113 Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1PL.
“Representation inspires change”: The words of the immediate Law Society past president at the swearing in of the new Lady Chief Justice. A moment to consider not only how far we’ve come – but how much more there is to do. Join an all-Judge panel from diverse backgrounds as they share their views on the extent to which the modern judiciary is ‘representative’, and the barriers and challenges to change in our system, particularly for black and minority ethnic aspiring judges.
At the midway point of the Judicial Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2020-2025, which aims to increase personal and professional judicial diversity at all levels we ask the questions about progress made, and what remains to be done to inspire change. Judges will share their own journeys into the judiciary and reflect on their views about making progress going forward.
