Law.com International reports that Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has revamped its diversity and inclusion strategy, setting refreshed gender, race and ethnicity, and LGBTQ+ targets for its partnership and associates, joining several other firms in committing to improving the diversity of its ranks.
As part of the firm’s 2021-2026 global D&I strategy, the firm is aiming for a new partnership make up of at least 40% women and 40% men, with 20% being men, women or non-binary. The firm has also set a LGBTQ+ global partnership target of at least 5% by 2026.
Alongside this, the firm has also announced that it intends to ensure that, by 2023, its key global leadership functions will be occupied by “at least 40% women, 40% men and 20% men, women or non-binary”. Though the firm also said it expects its leadership to “have ethnic diversity”, it did not set a specific target in this regard.
The firm has, however, extended its ethnicity targets for its associates, committing to doubling the number of black associates at the firm by 2026.
