The SRA are consulting on proposed changes to their rules and Codes of Conduct. They want to clarify their approach to issues around:
- appropriate treatment of work colleagues by the individuals and firms they regulate
- a solicitor’s health and fitness to practise.
The purpose of the proposed changes is to:
- make it clear that those they regulate must treat colleagues with respect and dignity. And that if they fail to do so, the SRA will take action where necessary to protect the interests of clients and the public
- support their ability to take appropriate and proportionate action where necessary to deal with concerns over a solicitor’s health affecting their fitness to practise.
This consultation is running from 4 March 2022 until 27 May 2022.
