International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination – 21 March

Today we celebrate the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

“The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed annually on 21 March. This is the day the police in Sharpeville, South Africa, opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration against apartheid “pass laws” in 1960.” – United Nations

The 2021 theme is “Youth standing up against racism”.

How can you #FightRacism?

  • You can help fight racism by being an ally and by educating yourself on race-related issues.
  • You can take action to make your organisation more inclusive.
  • If you are a BAME individual you can speak up and call out micro-aggressions and bias in the workplace and provide support to other colleagues.
