What is SMF?

The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) is a charity which aims to make a practical improvement in social mobility for young people. The SMF was founded in 2005 by Linkson Jack (who served as Chief Executive until January 2009) in order to provide opportunities, and networks of support for 16-17 year olds who are unable to get them from their schools or families.

They now work with young people from all across the UK in the years prior to and during university, and their Aspiring Professionals Programme offers tailored support across 11 career sectors including law.

Become a Mentor

As an SMF Mentor, you can personally help a young person on their Aspiring Professionals Programme on a one-to-one basis via email.

Over 9 months, your will support a young person by increasing their understanding of their desired career and professional life. You will also help them explore their professional interests further, support them in their university application, general skills development, as well as supporting them with other new experiences they are facing, such as their first internship or first job.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please do sign up here and the SMF we will be in touch from October onwards to discuss next steps for their 2021 cycle.
