In 2021, through Bloody Good Period’s Bloody Good Employers (BGE) initiative, are setting our sights on UK workplaces. They believe that they can drive big change here, and improve the lives of people at work,
nationwide. Over the last year, they’ve conducted research with both employers and employees. This report shares their findings.
Key Findings:
- 89% have experienced anxiety or stress in the workplace due to their period. Only one in ten have not.
- 25% reported feeling that time they have had to take off due to menstrual health issues has impacted their career progression.
- While two fifths (39%) feel often or always supported by their employer when it comes to menstrual health… 27% say they never feel supported. Again, the youngest respondents feel the least supported by their employers.
- When asked what employers could do to support them when it comes to their menstrual health, 56% said to encourage and support time off for necessary health checks e.g. cervical smears.
