For some time the SRA has seen an overrepresentation of solicitors from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds in our enforcement processes. These troubling patterns are widely seen across many regulators and sectors and have been apparent in the solicitor profession since before the SRA was established in 2007.
This literature review is the first stage of a research project commissioned by the SRA to understand the factors causing overrepresentation of Black, Asian and minority ethnic solicitors in the first stages of its enforcement processes.
