The 14 July is International Non-binary People’s Day, which aims to celebrate the wide range of people worldwide who identify as non-binary. It’s aimed at raising awareness and organising around the issues faced by non-binary people. Non-Binary Week is the week surrounding Non-Binary People’s Day and runs from Monday to Sunday. In 2021 this is the 12th-18th of July.
Here are some things that you can do for non-binary week:
- Read about how to support non-binary people and choose something to start doing.
- Book a workshop for your workplace to learn more about non-binary people and how to make your workplace inclusive.
- Share articles and videos by non-binary people and help amplify their voices.
- If you are non-binary, share something about your experience as a non-binary person and what it means to you.
- Donate to a transgender organisation that actively includes non-binary people.
- Host an event that celebrates non-binary people.
- Take an honest look at what you’re doing to actively and consistently support non-binary people, and think about what else you can do.
- Take an honest look at ways you could be intentionally or unintentionally contributing to transphobia and anti-nonbinary oppression and commit to doing better.
- Share information about Non-Binary Week with people who might not know about it yet.
Pass it on…
