ArbitralWomen is an international non-governmental organisation that has existed informally since 1993, actively since 2000, and officially as a non-profit organisation since 2005.

ArbitralWomen is the leading international network for women in alternative dispute resolution. It is an organisation of professional women working in this field in various roles, including but not limited to lawyer, arbitrator, mediator, neutral, expert, adjudicator, surveyor, facilitator, ombudswoman, forensic consultant, online dispute resolution professional, academic and educational competition coach.

The purposes of ArbitralWomen in the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) field are to:

  • advance the interests of women practitioners and promote women and diversity;
  • enable women to meet for professional, cultural, and academic purposes;
  • establish and maintain an international network of women involved in this field;
  • raise awareness about the role of women and diversity;
  • assist in the professional development of women;
  • provide mentoring for Members to advance their careers;
  • foster communications and exchanges of information of interest to Members and other ADR practitioners;
  • organise meetings, conferences, training seminars, and other events in ADR or diversity topics;
  • publish information papers, notes of conferences, or other research documents authored by women who practice in ADR;
  • provide informal coaching or financial sponsorship, to the extent possible and under the conditions established by the Board, for women law students or young women lawyers to participate in law competitions related to ADR;
  • promote and publicise the activities of ArbitralWomen and its Members through social media, digital communication, and publications;
  • liaise with other professional organisations to further its purpose; and
  • conduct any other activities or initiatives in furtherance of the purpose of ArbitralWomen.
