Solicitor apprenticeships jump 40% in one year – SRA Annual Report

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)’s annual report on education and training shows there has been a year-on-year increase in the number of solicitor apprenticeships available.

There were 242 solicitor apprenticeships available last year, 41% more than in 2019, when there were 170 available, according to the SRA data.

Other key facts highlighted within the SRA Annual reports include:

  • There continues to be year-on-year increase in the number of solicitors qualifying through apprenticeships, firms offering recognised training and solicitors gaining higher rights of audience qualifications.
  • The continued growth of the legal sector in Wales, with Welsh firms now accounting for a combined turnover of over ÂŁ435 million, up from ÂŁ370 million five years ago.
  • ÂŁ10.4 million was paid out from the Compensation Fund, up ÂŁ2.9 million from 2018/19, with the average payout around ÂŁ28,000.
