About:

Bridging the Bar is a charity committed to the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity of the Bar in England and Wales. Bridging the Bar believe that the ‘bridge’ between today’s Bar and the diverse Bar our society needs can be built by achieving three objectives:

  • equal access to opportunity
  • mentorship
  • transparency.

Support:

BTB are committed to increasing the equality of access to opportunities in the legal profession across all underrepresented groups. They help students who, owing to their disability, ethnic background, socio-economic background, education or sexuality, belong to groups which are statistically underrepresented in the profession.

Chambers – Mini Pupillage Scheme

Through their structured mini pupillage programme, students from all corners of our society have the exposure and insight needed to understand what life at the Bar entails, and what career options are possible for them.

For Chambers who would like to sign up to the Mini Pupillage Scheme, please fill out this form.

Other Work Experience

BTB also welcome approaches from law firms and other relevant organisations who are able to provide relevant work experience to their candidates. To speak about working together please contact info@bridgingthebar.org.

Individual Support

If you are either a self-employed or in-house barrister, you are welcome to support BTB in your individual capacity. As well as supporting the schemes providing work experience and shadowing to aspiring barristers, BTB are open to considering different ways that individual barristers can support BTB including delivering skills workshops, mentoring, speaking at events, marshalling opportunities, application support etc.

If you would like to be involved, please complete this form. They will be in touch when we are able to offer a volunteering opportunity in line with your interests and capacity.
