Disability history month, with illustrations of disabled people

It is almost Disability History Month… what are you doing to celebrate? Need some ideas of what you can do in your workplace to celebrate Disability History Month this year.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Celebrate Disabled People by having them speak at an event or by sharing videos of inspirational Disabled People (not just because of their disability).
  • Celebrate your Disabled talent by showcasing your Disabled employees.
  • Create conversation for employees by hosting a panel event.
  • Educate your employees by sharing information about Disability and Disability history.
  • Choose a book written by a disabled author for your next book club event (or hold a special one for disability history month) or share reading recommendations.
  • Educate your employees by hosting a lunch and learn (and include food from disabled-owned businesses).
  • Support a Disability Charity.
  • Remind everyone of your internal initiatives and what your staff network, D&I/HR teams have been working on and launch any new initiatives (and identify new ones).

What are you doing? Please share any ideas in the comments.
